This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Jesus
All are welcome
GSLC is a community of people called together by God’s Holy Spirit who confess Jesus as Lord. We are called to welcome all into our midst so that, together, we may proclaim the good news of salvation through our Savior, Jesus Christ. We are a congregation of all ages and come from a variety of religious backgrounds.
Worship is central to our life and faith as we celebrate the Word and Holy Communion each Sunday morning using a variety of liturgical and musical styles, including organ, piano, and a worship band.
Following Christ’s example, we strive to raise up those less fortunate than ourselves and make the world a better place through outreach, community service and advocating justice.
We care for and support one another through prayer, fellowship and small group relationships.
Mission & Vision
Where God Leads
Jesus is Lord.
We participate in joyous worship through music, scripture and prayer.
We welcome everyone into the caring community of Good Shepherd with love.
We strengthen and build up the people of God through prayer and study.
We cherish and nourish all children of God.
We make the world a better place through outreach, community service and advocating justice.
We support God’s mission through the faithful stewardship of our personal and congregational resources of time, talent and treasure.
We believe in one God revealed through three coeternal divine persons: God the Creator, God the Redeemer (Jesus Christ), and God the Sustainer (Holy Spirit).
(Jesus said,] “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who comes from the Father, he will testify on my behalf.” John 15:26.
We believe we are saved by grace alone. This grace is an unearned gift from God that we do not deserve and cannot earn by anything that we might do.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God—not the result of works, so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
We believe in the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion for all.
Sacraments are God’s way of using something “ordinary” to deliver something extraordinary. In baptism God uses ordinary water and in Holy Communion God uses ordinary bread and wine to deliver something extraordinary – grace and forgiveness. Anyone of any age can be baptized at GSLC and can receive the gift of Holy Communion.
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:26-27
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35
We believe prayer is central to our relationship with God. Communication is essential for any relationship to grow and thrive. Our communication with God, through prayer, is a two-way street: We strive to listen when God speaks, and God listens to our hearts when we speak. Prayer is God’s gift to us and there is no wrong way to pray.
Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6
We believe we must love all people just as God loves all of us. God knew this would not be easy, so God made this a commandment.
And one of them, a lawyer, asked him a question to test him. “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’” Matthew 22:35-40
